New Project: Dolly Mamas! This charity project will provide a new doll, doll wardrobe, tote bag for doll/wardrobe and doll quilt to Safe Harbour, a Child Advocacy Center where abused children receive care and counseling. It is located here in Conroe. Little girls from ages 6-10 will receive the majority of the dolls, but children as young as 3 or as old as 12 may be included. This will be an ongoing project. How can you help?
- Make a tote bag to hold doll and wardrobe (needed now!)
- Purchase a doll (available at Michaels) and donate it to the project. Or purchase doll accessories.
- Make clothing for the dolls (Terri Wilson has patterns).
- Make a small quilt (especially cute if it matches tote bag), approx. 17x20" for doll.
New Project: Birthday Bags! It has come to our attention that children who are housed at the Women's Shelter in Conroe need some special attention when they have a birthday! Otherwise this special day in a child's life might go unnoticed and unobserved. The population there is constantly in flux, so the need for birthday supplies will be in flux as well, but we hope to keep enough on hand to provide some special attention for a needy birthday child. How can you help?
- Make a child-size quilt to put in the birthday bag ... approx. 40x60" would be good.
- Provide a set of 16-20 birthday themed paper plates, napkins, cups, plastic utensils, balloons, candles, other ideas? ... and a "birthday bag" to put it all in.
- Provide approx. $14 (give to Gladys Keith) to purchase the above items.
